Lanza Finishes Second In Wilson Shootout

South Plainfield resident, Mike Lanza, finished second in the Wilson International Shootout held at the University of Nevada at Las Vegas during the weekend of May 30 th and 31st, 1997. For starters in the Individual competition, Lanza shot his way to a second place finish with 88 points.

Ed Roman, Sr. of Somerset, PA finished first in the individual category. In the team competition, Mike and his brother Bob Lanza also competed in the National Team Division Shooting Contest.

In this competition, the Lanza team finished second again with 91 points. The winners were the Roman team consisting of Ed Roman, Sr. and Ed Roman Jr. of Somerset, PA who scored the high score of 94. The Wilson Shootout is a National Competition held yearly with All-State Champions competing in Las Vegas.

The competition starts at the state level where there are approximately 20,000 competitors. The competition then dwindles down to 210 finalists from 46 states. These 210 finalists all come to Las Vegas to attend this event.
